A rule for documents that make you hesitate

If you paused before uploading, that pause is information. Here is how to use it.

Ask which half of the toolset the job falls in. If the work is merging, splitting, rotating, marking, numbering, signing or converting between images and PDF, nothing is sent anywhere and the hesitation has no object.

If the job is PDF to Word, PDF to Excel or Office to PDF, the file goes to a service. For most documents that is unremarkable. For a few — medical records, a contract under negotiation, anything covered by an obligation you signed — it is a decision worth making deliberately rather than by habit.

A middle path

Extract only the pages that need converting. A three-page extract from a sixty-page file is a much smaller decision, and the extraction itself happens in your browser.
